Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dimitar Evtimov endured a nightmare debut for Port Vale, after completing an emergency loan move to the League Two club.

Vale required Evtimov’s services after an injury crisis struck, but the goalkeeper did little to impress on debut.

The 24-year-old made a glaring error to allow Swindon to score a second, as Vale slipped to a 3-0 defeat.

Evtimov was first beaten by a Matt Taylor free-kick, which he managed to get a hand to put could not keep out.

And then he made a huge error, as he sprinted out to claim a cross, before hesitating, which caused confusion in his side’s defence.

Swindon attacker Paul Mullin was then left with the simple task of putting the header beyond Evtimov, and he arguably could have done better on the third goal too.

Although Evtimov was attempting to narrow the angle, and Vale had few numbers back, his decision to sprint off his line left Harry Smith able to cut the ball to Kellan Gordon, who could tap into an empty net.

The defeat ended Vale’s three-match winning run, and Forest goalkeeper Evtimov will have plenty of supporters to win over, after a poor debut showing.
