Nottingham Forest are set to appoint Martin O’Neill as their new manager.

Nottingham Forest saw Aitor Karanka depart the City Ground on Friday, resigning on the eve of the 2-0 defeat away at Reading.
Forest were dismal in that loss at the Madejski Stadium, and they are now nearing a move to confirm Karanka’s replacement ahead of Saturday’s game against Bristol City.
The Guardian report that Martin O’Neill is on the verge of being confirmed as Forest’s new manager, and there is a chance that Roy Keane will follow him.
Forest had been linked with Slavisa Jokanovic or Carlos Carvalhal, but it’s a nostalgic move for O’Neill chosen instead according to reports today.
O’Neill was a Forest legend as a player, playing a key role in Brian Clough’s side which won a First Division title, two League Cups and, most importantly, the European Cup twice.
O’Neill played almost 300 league games for Forest, scoring 48 games, and his return could be made even more emotional with a move for Keane too.

Keane was O’Neill’s right-hand man with the Republic of Ireland national team, so it’s natural to assume that they could join forces once again at the City Ground.
Keane also made his name as a player with Forest, scoring 32 goals in 154 games for the club before going on to captain Manchester United, becoming a Premier League legend.
With Keane touted for a move back to Forest, many fans have taken to Twitter to hope that the deal does go through, as they feel O’Neill and Keane is the ‘perfect package’ and can provide the tough love that some Forest players need right now.
