Nottingham Forest striker Zach Clough has returned to Rochdale on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old had a stint at the League One club at the beginning of the campaign, but injuries restricted him to just nine appearances, according to Transfermarkt.

Clough returned to the City Ground after the loan spell at Spotland was up, having regained his fitness over the winter, and began training under new Reds manager Martin O’Neill.

However, the forward completed a deadline-day move back to Rochdale, the club saying they had “seen off a number of clubs to secure his services”, according to their official statement.

Here is how some Forest fans reacted on Twitter to their player’s loan switch after the Championship club retweeted Rochdale’s unveiling video:

Clough arrived at Forest on deadline day in the 2017 winter window, joining from his hometown club Bolton Wanderers in a deal about £2.5million, according to BBC Sport.

Since then, he has made 31 appearances for the Reds, scoring four goals, including one at the City Ground in a 2-2 draw with bitter rivals Derby County.
