The Championship club’s plans to redevelop the City Ground have moved a step closer.

Nottingham Forest have announced on their official website that they have secured a new 250-year lease to enable the club to redevelop their stadium.
In February, the Championship club confirmed that their lease on the City Ground had been extended by the city council, which means they would be able to proceed with plans to redevelop the ground and surrounding area.
The land the stadium sits on is leased from Nottingham City Council who have been working with Forest on the plans, and the new agreement replaces the current 50-year lease, as mentioned in the new statement.
In addition, Forest said that the size of their leased area has been increased to include the land on Trentside North, behind the Trent End, from Trent Bridge on one side up to Trent Lock, close to Lady Bay Bridge.
Here is what some Reds fans made of the announcement on Twitter:
Forest have played at the City Ground since 1898 and the stadium has not seen any major development for 25 years, but central to this upcoming redevelopment will be the creation of a new Peter Taylor Stand and improvements to the Trentside area, Brian Clough and Bridgford Stands.
