The Forest midfielder has missed much of the Reds’ pre-season but the City Ground faithful were buoyed by his return to training.
A number of Nottingham Forest fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the club update on Joao Carvalho, who is stepping up his comeback from injury.
The 22-year-old midfielder has missed much of the Reds’ pre-season after finding himself of the receiving end of a heavy challenge from an Alfreton Town player in their pre-season encounter in June.
Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi initially refused to put a timescale on Carvalho’s recovery but ahead of the Championship opener against West Bromwich Albion, he did say the Portuguese would be back in training the following week (official Forest website).
The club has since posted video footage of the player making his way to training as well as an image of him undertaking drills on the pitch:
Given the Reds struggled to create many chances against the Baggies en route to a 2-1 defeat, it looks as though Carvalho’s creative spark was missed, so the prospect of him coming back soon has been welcomed by the fanbase.

Carvalho joined Forest in the summer of 2018 from Benfica for a club-record transfer fee of £13.2million (Transfermarkt), penning a five-year contract at the City Ground.
While in the Garibaldi Red, he has made 40 appearances, scoring four goals and registering eight assists (Transfermarkt).
