Nottingham Forest fans are discussing the possibility of signing Patrick Bamford from Middlesbrough.

Academy graduate Bamford was prised from Forest by Chelsea six years ago and is currently in his second spell at Middlesbrough.

The 24-year-old has, however, struggled for starts since his £6 million move to the Riverside a year ago – although he did come for the final 40 minutes of Boro’s New Year’s Day win at Preston North End.

And that, coupled with Forest’s potential appointment of Aitor Karanka – the man who twice brought Bamford to Middlesbrough, has got some Reds fans wondering whether a return for the striker could be on the cards in January.

Bamford – who also had loan spells at Milton Keynes Dons, Derby County, Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Burnley has played arguably his best football under Karanka, who was his manager when named Championship player of the year.
