Nottingham Forest and Blackburn fans suffer similar ownership grievances yet their situations have been handled very differently.

Blackburn Rovers announced yesterday the appointment of Toby Mowbray as first team manager.

The move came less than 24 hours after Owen Coyle was fired, and whatever you think about the Venkys’ often terrible ownership moves at Rovers, the swift turnaround was at least painless.

A very different story transpired at Championship competitors Nottingham Forest last month, after controversial owner Fawaz Al Hasawi sacked Philippe Montanier.

Unlike Blackburn, Forest had trouble attracting managers, with Nigel Clough and Gary Rowett publicly distancing themselves from the role after being linked.

In the end the club settled on declaring caretaker boss Gary Brazil as manager on an interim basis until the end of the season, with the club’s search drawing a blank.

Forest fans, unimpressed by a lack of leadership behind the scenes at their club, were quick to air their grievances via Twitter at Blackburn managing to settle their change in management quickly, compared to their still uncertain future.

Blackburn are battling to avoid relegation and if they get their act together Nottingham Forest could be sucked into the scrap.

Forest are in 18th place although should not be too complacent as three teams below them have two games in hand, including Mowbray’s Rovers.
