The 38-year-old former England left-back is now at the Rams. Here is how some Reds fans reacted, with some invoking the Michael Dawson signing.

Arguably one of the most high-profile transfers of the January window took place this week as Derby County signed former England left-back Ashley Cole until the end of the season.
Although the move was not particularly unexpected, given both Cole and Rams manager Frank Lampard were teammates at Chelsea and within the Three Lions setup, it still generated plenty of headlines and column inches.
Cole, who won 107 caps for his country, featured in 32 games for Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy last season before leaving in October, and has an illustrious club CV boasting Chelsea, Arsenal and Roma.
Given Derby’s huge rivalry with Nottingham Forest, the 38-year-old’s arrival at Pride Park was always going to prompt a reaction from Reds fans.
Indeed, some of the Forest faithful took to Twitter to remind their Rams counterparts of prior exchanges regarding last summer’s signing of a then 34-year-old Michael Dawson:
Cole, who according to BBC Sport would now be the oldest player in the Championship, has joined a Derby side in contention for promotion to the Premier League, with the Rams currently sixth in the table after Saturday’s win against Reading.
