Guinea-Bissau midfielder Judilson Mamadu Tuncara Gomes, also known as Pele, has joined the Reds on loan from Monaco
Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of midfielder Judilson Mamadu Tuncara Gomes from Monaco on loan until the end of the season.
The 27-year-old Guinea-Bissau international, also known as Pele, moved to the Ligue 1 club in the summer from Portuguese club Rio Ave.
Pele had helped the Vila do Conde side to fifth in the Primeira Liga table last season, which sealed qualification to the Europa League.
In addition, his seven goals in 31 appearances for Rio Ave earned him the Player of the Season award, but he has only made eight Ligue 1 appearances this term for Monaco.
According to BBC Sport, Pele started his club career with Portuguese side Belenenses and also spent time in Italy with Genoa and AC Milan, although he never played for either side.
After Forest announced Pele’s arrival with a statement on their official website and subsequent Twitter post, some Reds fans expressed their opinions, some of which drew comparisons between the player and a certain namesake:

Forest are ninth in the Championship and are four points off the playoff places ahead of Saturday’s trip to fellow promotion chasers Birmingham City.
