Byram moved to Nottingham Forest on a season-long deal from West Ham United last week.

Sam Byram made his first appearance for Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, having signed on loan from West Ham United last week.

The right-back played the full 90 minutes as 10-man Forest drew 1-1 with Bury in the EFL Cup first round, and scored in the ensuing penalty shoot-out, which the Reds won 10-9.

And according to some Nottingham Forest supporters, Byram showed enough to warrant a first league start against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

This is what they’re saying about the West Ham loanee on Twitter…

Byram faces competition from Tendayi Darikwa in his quest to become Nottingham Forest’s first choice right-back, although the former Leeds United player’s ability to play multiple roles – including right-wing and centre-back – should ensure regular game time this season.

West Ham signed Ryan Fredericks in Byram’s position earlier this summer, but with Pablo Zabaleta’s contract up next summer, the 24-year-old has plenty of incentive to impress at Forest.

Should the West Ham loanee be Nottingham Forest’s first choice right-back?
