Nottingham Forest fans react to Roy Keane joining Martin O’Neill at club

The former Reds ace, who worked with O’Neill in the Republic of Ireland setup, is now back at the City Ground.

Arguably one of Nottingham’s worst-kept secrets is finally out of the bag as Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Roy Keane has officially been appointed as Martin O’Neill’s assistant at the City Ground.

O’Neill, appointed by the Reds on January 15, has overseen two Championship games so far – the 1-0 loss to Bristol City in his first game in charge, and last Saturday’s 3-1 win over WIgan Athletic, both at the City Ground.

Keane, like O’Neill, is a former Forest player, and both have experience of working together at the highest level as they enjoyed a five-year spell in charge of the Republic of Ireland, which ended in November last year.

O’Neill had previously said that he would “dearly like” Keane to join him at NG2 (BBC Sport) and, on Monday, Forest confirmed that the former Manchester United midfielder had come on board.at the Championship’s current ninth-placed side.
