Nottingham Forest are linked with the 28-year-old striker.

The Guardian reported today that Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to sign ex-Premier League striker Nicklas Bendtner.

The 28-year-old is available on a Bosman following his release from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg this summer.

The controversial Danish forward had his contract terminated in April but, according to The Guardian, Nottingham Forest are willing to take him to the City Ground.

Bendtner’s career has majorly stalled since his nine-year Arsenal stint ended in 2014, having previously endured unsuccessful loan spells with Juventus and Sunderland.

And Forest fans are relatively mixed over the prospect of signing the much-maligned striker.

Of course, Bendtner is now seen as a figure of amusement in the football world as a result of being unable to back up his egocentric comments of the past.

But the truth is that he can be an okay goalscorer at times, and he netted a hat-trick against the United States in March 2015.

He has also scored hat-tricks in the Champions League and FA Cup for Arsenal, against Porto and Leyton Orient respectively.

He is no world beater, but perhaps he can add some goals and experience to a relatively young Nottingham Forest outfit.
