Newcastle United’s red cards against Nottingham Forest have been rescinded.

Newcastle United had two players sent off last Friday in their 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Both Jonjo Shelvey and Paul Dummett received their marching orders for separate clashes with Forest’s Henri Lansbury.

Yesterday Newcastle were given the welcome news that the FA has decided to rescind the red cards and both Shelvey and Dummett will be free to play this weekend, The Guardian reported.

The incidents overshadowed an entertaining game at the City Ground, which was a second successive defeat for table topping Newcastle.

Newcastle immediately appealed the ensuring bans from the incidents and the FA Commission gave their decision on Tuesday.

The Toon face Birmingham City at home this weekend and manager Rafa Benitez’s selection options are now more varied.

Newcastle’s lead at the top was cut to just one point after the defeat to Forest, with Brighton and Hove Albion on their tails.
