The Dutch striker opened his Forest account at long last.

It took two years and 53 days coming, but Lars Veldwijk finally has his first goal for Nottingham Forest.
A prolific scorer with Dutch sides DC Dordrecht, Excelsior Rotterdam and PEC Zwolle, with whom he spent the whole of last season on loan, it just has not clicked for the imposing centre-forward on English soil – until now that is.

Making only his second start of the campaign, and 17th for the Reds in total, Veldwijk struck an 87th-minute winner at the New Den as Forest edged past League One Millwall in the EFL Cup second round.
The Dutchman will also be credited with an assist, given that it was his blocked header which found its way to Jamie Paterson, who duly did the rest with 35 minutes gone.

The tie looked to be heading for extra-time when Stephen Henderson was somehow lobbed by Millwall’s Shaun Williams from 50 yards out – only for Veldwijk to spare his teammate’s blushes 10 minutes later.
Here is what the fans were saying afterwards…
And finally… Spare a thought for this poor chap…
