Jack Colback was superb as Nottingham Forest had to settle for a point in controversial circumstances.
Nottingham Forest fans will understandably feel very aggrieved following the controversial circumstances that forced Martin O’Neill’s men to settle for a point from their clash with West Brom on Tuesday when they arguably deserved a win.
Forest were 2-1 ahead heading into the final minutes of the game at the Hawthorns, but the Baggies were awarded a penalty when Dwight Gayle went to ground inside the box. Replays showed that there was no contact made with the striker.
Jay Rodriguez made the score 2-2. And Forest were unlucky not to have the chance to go back in front when Kieran Gibbs’s attempt to swap shirts with Joe Lolley before the final whistle was somehow missed by Lee Mason.
Despite the controversy, there were plenty of Forest supporters on social media who were delighted with a number of their players following the result – and Jack Colback was one who came in for a lot of plaudits.
The midfielder – who was returning to the side after a suspension – was excellent against the Baggies. Whoscored shows that he won four of the five challenges that he went in for, and completed 87 percent of the passes he attempted.
And following his display, a number of fans have suggested that Forest need to do everything they can to try and keep Colback beyond the end of his loan spell as he has been a revelation since arriving at the City Ground.
