Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting with disbelief on Twitter after Zach Clough and Ben Brereton were left out of the starting lineup for their defeat against Brentford, and their frustrations were not helped after watching the impact the pair made when they came on.

Gary Brazil decided to hand Britt Assombalonga and Hildeberto Perreira starts in the front four for the game at the City Ground, but neither was able to make that great an impact while they were on the pitch.

With the score 2-0 to the away side with an hour gone, Brazil decided to throw Clough and Brereton on for the previously mentioned pair, and while the game’s third goal would also go to Brentford, Forest’s two young forwards made a major statement in the remaining minutes of the game.

The third goal of Brereton’s professional career will surely go down as the simplest he will ever score, as he latched onto a spilled shot and tapped into an empty net from just a couple of yards with eight minutes to go.

Meanwhile, Clough gave Forest a further glimmer as his header halved the deficit in stoppage-time, but it was too little too late for the home side, leaving them just five points above the bottom three with 11 games left.

The Forest fans who have taken to social media have unsurprisingly vented their frustration at the manager for failing to pick either Brereton or Clough in the starting lineup, and have implored Brazil to not make the same mistake for the crucial game against Burton this weekend.

Here is the best of the reaction…
