Forest could have another teenage sensation on their books.

Nottingham Forest fans are experiencing a mixture of emotions after Under-23s striker Ben Brereton scored four times in Friday’s 5-0 win at Queens Park Rangers.

Brereton was a free-scorer in the Under-18s last season and looks to be having no problems with the step up a level.

The Nigel Doughty Academy product had a hand in all five goals at Loftus Road, setting up the only one he didn’t score for new arrival Lewis Walters.

That all sounds fairly rosy, so why the mixture of emotions? Well this is Nottingham Forest after all, and their fans have been stung before regarding the club’s young talent.

Nottingham Forest's Oliver Burke celebrates scoring their third goalBurke

Just this summer, Oliver Burke was sold to Red Bull Leipzig following an impressive start to the season, while the Reds previously cashed in on Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow during the Fawaz Al-Hasawi regime.

In light of this, there is already a fear among some that Brereton will be snatched away from the City Ground before long – although given the team’s performances following Burke’s departure, many are ready to blood the club’s latest sensation at first-team level.

There’s always one, isn’t there?
