Nottingham Forest today continued announcing good news for their fans, by confirming that midfielder David Vaughan has pledged his future to the Reds for another year, as reported by Forest’s official website.
Vaughan has become a massive fan favourite and a social media sensation this past year – indeed Forest’s left back Armand Traore’s current Instagram profile picture is a Photoshop of Vaughan on Jesus’ face – and fans on Twitter are overjoyed that the midfielder is staying.
Vaughan made 31 appearances for Forest in the 2016/17 season, registering two assists in the process, and seems certain to be a part of new manager Mark Warburton’s plans, with the former Sunderland man still performing at a high level despite his age.
Looking through Twitter, it’s clear Forest fans are very pleased with the news – here are some of the more serious responses first…
And now the responses that further cement Vaughan’s reputation as a social media sensation…
To say Vaughan is popular among the Forest faithful would be an understatement, with many fans taking to the Welsh midfielder – indeed if Vaughan plays well, Forest tend to follow suit as a team.
Speaking about his deal, Vaughan said that he felt it was vital to stay at The City Ground given the new ownership of the club, while also praising the fans’ support for both himself and the whole team towards the end of the season.

“I am delighted to have signed a new contract here,” Vaughan said to the clubs official website. “It is a great club, the fans are great and it feels like it’s the start of something.
“I have always enjoyed a good relationship with the fans. With them getting behind us in the numbers they did in the final few games of last season, I strongly believe we can achieve success. We need their support from start to finish and it’s great to see so many fans already purchasing their reduced season card.
“Since the manager has come in the lads have really bought in to what he is trying to do and we feel we can give it a really good go next season. With the new owners coming into the club as well, I felt it was something that I had to be part of as it is a really exciting time to be at Nottingham Forest.”
