Nottingham Forest earned an excellent 1-0 victory over Norwich City on Tuesday evening.
Nottingham Forest striker Daryl Murphy finally ended his goalscoring drought on Tuesday night by scoring the only goal of the game against Norwich City – and fans have reacted on Twitter with delight for the veteran striker.
Murphy, 34, latched onto a Tendayi Darikwa cross from the right-hand side to slide the ball home from 10 yards out after getting the better of half-time Norwich substitution Christoph Zimmerman.
In what was a game of few chances, Forest will argue that they deserved all three points after golden chances for playmaker Kieran Dowell and Murphy throughout the match.
But Mark Warburton’s side finally found the back of the net and held on to all three points despite a late Norwich onslaught, thanks to Murphy’s goal which saw him score his first in five games for Forest.
Murphy has been a key member of the Forest side this season since moving to the City Ground from Newcastle United in the summer, playing in 15 of Forest’s Championship matches and scoring seven times.
The two-time European Champions now sit in a very healthy seventh place in the Championship table – just two points away from the play-offs – as Warburton’s summer signings seem to have done the trick.
Nottingham Forest fans took to Twitter to congratulate Ireland international Murphy for his goal, with one fan even claiming the former Ipswich Town ace is one of the “hardest working players” Forest have had “for years”.
