Nottingham Forest claimed a crucial three points as well as bragging rights on Monday night with a 1-0 win over local rivals Derby County.

Forest went into the game four points behind the Rams, with both teams chasing a play-off place, and the game was settled with a very early goal.

Forest defender Yohan Benalouane pounced from close range, as Derby failed to deal with Joe Lolley’s free kick, allowing the Tunisian to score.

Both teams had their chances to add to the scoreline, but it stayed 1-0 as Martin O’Neill claimed a huge win at the City Ground.

Forest now move a point behind Derby and three points off the play-offs, with O’Neill no doubt delighted with how his centre backs performed last night.

Benalouane got the winner and was solid throughout, whilst Alexander Milosevic was a colossus at centre back too, with O’Neill justified for signing the duo.

Milosevic, 27, joined Forest on a free transfer after leaving AIK in his native Sweden, and has quickly become a fan favourite with some dominant displays at the back.

Fans took to Twitter to hail Milosevic’s performance, calling ‘a class above’, ‘incredible’ and ‘outstanding’, with many marvelling at the fact that he signed on a free transfer, praising the club’s scouts for finding such an impressive centre back.
