If there’s one thing Forest fans know all too well, it’s that constant change usually doesn’t manifest itself as success.

Another day, another major change at Nottingham Forest.
Controversial owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi (below) has grown increasingly desperate in his attempts to offload the sleeping giant and, at last, he may be about to get his wish. According to The Sun, veteran US businessman John Jay Moores is set to complete his takeover in the coming days.

And, on the face of it, that is good news for a club for whom simple mediocrity has become a preferable alternative to full-on calamity in recent years. After all, Moores knows a thing or two about turning round a sports team. After just two seasons as the owner of baseball outfit San Diego Padres, they lifted their first title in a decade. For Forest, some stability and perhaps a promotion push would make a pleasant change.
However, the prospective appointment of former Liverpool, Blackburn and Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel as director of football has raised substantially more questions. You’d struggle to find an individual with more experience or calm intelligence than the 45-year-old, but, according to The Sun, Friedel’s role will be more extensive than first expected. Namely, he will be expected to lead the search for a new coach.
Without having to read too far between the lines, that probably means a rather swift exit for Philippe Montanier (below). Despite an eight match winless run, the Frenchman retains the support of a fanbase desperate for consistency after six managers in four years, with Montanier’s commitment to blooding the club’s extensive youth system a source of pride at the City Ground.

Once again, however, and regardless of the opinions of those in the stands, wholesale changes are afoot at Forest.
