HITC Sport understands Nottingham Forest are eyeing the Blackburn star.
Brighton’s Robert Hunt and Blackburn’s Connor Mahoney in action
Nottingham Forest are leading the chase for highly-rated Blackburn Rovers winger Connor Mahoney, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Mahoney is out of contract at Blackburn at the end of this month and he is not expected to sign the new deal on offer at Ewood Park.
Blackburn are resigned to losing Mahoney following their relegation from the Championship, but they will be due compensation if he joins another club as he is under the age of 24.

A number of Championship clubs have been monitoring Mahoney’s contract situation at Blackburn and Forest are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by luring him to the City Ground.
The 20-year-old has impressed at Blackburn since joining the club from Accrington Stanley in December 2013 and is tipped for a bright future in the game.
Mahoney made 21 appearances for Blackburn last season and he caught the eye despite Blackburn suffering relegation to League One.
Forest boss Mark Warburton is keen to add some creativity to his side ahead of next season and he sees Mahoney as someone who can add to his attacking options as the club look to improve on last season’s disappointing campaign.
