The 22-year-old has been linked with a move away for a while now, and it seems there may be substance behind those reports.
Nottingham Forest’s Ben Osborn celebrates their first goal
Nottingham Forest fans are bracing themselves for the departure of midfielder Ben Osborn this summer, after his dad tweeted that it was a case of when, not if, the 22-year-old moves on from The City Ground.
Osborn has been in fine form for Forest this season despite the club’s struggles, with four goals and six assists to his name, and has been linked with Premier League sides Swansea City and Burnley, while soon to be promoted Newcastle United have been monitoring the former England U20 international for a while, as reports The Sun.
However, Osborn has bizarrely been targeted by a vocal minority of Forest fans on social media, with the midfielder essentially being scapegoated for the side’s decline for a number of ridiculous reasons.
It seems that the levels of abuse has angered the favourite for Forest’s player of the year award, and his dad’s tweet – which you can see below – has the majority of fans worrying that the club will lose one of its best players this summer, again.
With Mark Warburton’s side just one point above the relegation zone with three games to play, things already look bleak as it is at The City Ground, and losing Osborn would make matters worse for the club – regardless of what division the Reds find themselves in next season.
Warburton will now prepare his side to face high-flying Reading in their next fixture, and fans will be keeping an eye on proceedings involving Blackburn Rovers – the side a point beneath them – in their match with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
