Nottingham Forest are already weighing up a deal to bring Cremonense wideman Emanuele Valeri to the Premier League in January, according to Radio Sei, but Steve Cooper’s side could face competition from Lazio and AC Milan.

23 new signings, it seems, still aren’t enough as far as Nottingham Forest are concerned.

A deal to bring in Palmeiras playmaker and World Cup hopeful Gustavo Scarpa has already been agreed; confirmed by the Copa Libertadores winners themselves. Sao Paulo’s so-called ‘new Kaka’ Igor Gomes is another name on Forest’s seemingly never-ending wishlist.

And keep an eye on Emmanuele Valeri too; one of Serie A’s breakthrough stars.

According to reports, the Rome-born leftie has picked up his fair share of admirers at the City Ground. He is enjoying a fine start to the season for newly-promoted Cremonense.

A versatile left-wing back perfectly suited to Steve Cooper’s 3-4-2-1 formation; Valeri is out of contract at the end of this season too. Cremonense, then, will almost certainly be open to offers in the New Year.

“Lazio and Milan are two clubs that have sounded him out,” explains Valeri’s agent, Pietro Parente.

“After all, he showed (when scoring against Atalanta) that he’s ready for a further step forward. That he’s ready for the so-called ‘big teams’.

“Obviously. the goal is to grow more and more. If the opportunity presents itself tomorrow, we’ll take advantage of it.”

Per La Repubblica, Valeri will cost somewhere in the region of £7 million. And while you may be wondering why on earth Nottingham Forest appear to want yet another left-wing back – having already signed Renan Lodi, Harry Toffolo and Omar Richards – it is worth pointing out that the latter is yet to feature in the Premier League after suffering a hairline fracture.

Lodi, meanwhile, is yet to prove that the option-to-buy clause in his contract is worth triggering, even if the season is still young. The Atletico Madrid loanee left a lot to be desired with his erratic performance in Friday’s 3-2 home defeat to Fulham.

A permanent deal for Lodi will set Forest back around £30 million.
