Forest lost 4-0 to Premier League side Arsenal in a ruthless performance.
Nottingham Forest’s Nicklas Bendtner sat on the substitutes bench as manager Philippe Montanier looks on
Nottingham Forest boss Philippe Montanier has revealed to BBC Nottingham Sport just what he and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger were talking about at length before the start of their EFL Cup tie last night.
Forest welcomed Arsenal to the City Ground last night and would have been hoping to cause some damage to the side.
With much of the attention on Nicklas Bendtner facing his former club Forest flopped under the circumstances.
Arsenal eventually cruised to a 4-0 win after a double from Lucas Perez was ably sandwiched between a Granit Xhaka thunder-strike and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain finish.

Before the game however Montanier had a lengthy chat with his French compatriot Wenger in the opposite dugout.
When asked by BBC Nottingham Sport whether it was a discussion about signing players from Arsenal in the future Montanier laughed off the suggestion, and explained what they were talking about:
“No, no (we weren’t talking about signing players).
“Technique.
“We talked together before the match about how technique now is very important in football. We could see the demonstration (from Arsenal) tonight.”
Montanier is trying to get Forest playing a certain style of football, an exciting attacking brand that certainly requires high levels of technique. It is likely he might have been getting some pointers from the very best in how to do so.
Forest fans will no doubt hope that their team are soon playing in the way that Arsenal do.
