Nottingham Forest and Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles’ mind games backfired against Birmingham City.
Nottingham Forest lost more ground on the play-off spots this weekend as Birmingham City defeated them 2-1.
This came through a late penalty, and Blues goalscorer Paul Caddis has revealed how Jamaal Lascelles attempted to put him off.
In doing so however, he may have given away more than he needed to.
Caddis told BluesTV: “The lad Lascelles told me the goalie always goes to his right so thanks very much for that.
“I went to the other side so, I’d like to thank him for that, that was decent.”
It’s unclear whether Lascelles consulted his goalkeeper Karl Darlow, also Newcastle bound, prior to making his comments.
Lascelles himself was starting in his second game in a row, and made an impressive 18 clearances during the contest.
| Match | Aerial Won | Effective Clearance | Interception Won | Won Tackle | Mins Played | |

| Jamaal Lascelles | Wolves vs Forest | 4 | 10 | 1 | 1 | 90 |
Forest’s loss leaves them ninth, with Birmingham are only six points behind in 17th position in the Championship.
