The American defender admits improvements are needed in defence.

Nottingham Forest full-back Eric Lichaj has been speaking to the club’s official website about the teams struggles to keep a clean sheet this season.

Forest appointed a new manager this summer, with Frenchman Philippe Montanier becoming the club’s first ever foreign manager.

The former Rennes and Real Sociedad boss brought with him an attacking philosophy – which has seen Forest turn around their stilted style under the more negative Dougie Freedman.

But Lichaj admits the club would like to keep their first clean-sheet at some point – with Sheffield Wednesday this weekend in the American’s sights:

“We’ve been conceding a few too many goals but we know that winning 4-3 is better than drawing 0-0. We always aim to get three points but we’ve been working on set-pieces and defending in training to make sure we get that clean sheet as soon as possible.”

Forest have won two games this season 4-3 and they clearly have an attacking idea to the way they want to play at present.

Defending has improved slightly at the club in recent weeks but are still chasing that elusive shutout.

Forest fans will not be too bothered about a clean sheet if it means them drawing 0-0. The club would much rather see them winning a high-scoring affair and at least there is some entertainment at the City Ground this season – compared to last term.
