Ahead of their meeting with Leeds United this weekend, Nottingham Forest defender Carl Jenkinson has given his opinion on the Elland Road side (official Reds website).

The Reds will be hoping to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the City Ground last week as they head to Yorkshire to take on Marcelo Bielsa’s charges.

The Whites, whose game against Forest kicks off at 12:30pm, began their campaign on a winning note, running out 3-1 winners against Bristol City at Ashton Gate last week.

Jenkinson joined Sabri Lamouchi’s side on transfer deadline day from Arsenal and as such could make his debut against last season’s third-placed side, who was in the title race for much of the campaign but fell just short.

Leeds were last in the Premier League in 2004 and the road to where they are now, within touching distance of the top flight, was not easy by any means, but given their stature in the game and their history, the 27-year-old right-back had some kind words about them.

“They’re a very good team who were close to going up last year and I think when you hear of Leeds as a football club you know it is a proper club,” Jenkinson told the Forest website.

“They’ve got a proper team so it’s going to be a difficult game for sure. But we’ve got a great team as well I can tell you that, so will go up there with full confidence.”

Last term, Forest held Leeds to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road on 27 October before running out 4-2 winners at the City Ground on New Year’s Day.
