Gary Gardner believes Nottingham Forest can win away to Middlesbrough.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Gary Gardner is full of belief that his side can win away to Middlesbrough this weekend.

Aitor Karanka’s team have been in impressive form of late, currently top of the league, but suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to Bristol City at the weekend.

Boro had won five consecutive matches beforehand, and have won eight of their last 10, boasting a formidable defensive record.

They have the meanest backline in the division, conceding only 13 goals in 26 games.

Forest ace Gardner has told the official club website he sees weakness in Middlesbrough’s recent defeat to Bristol City, and this gives them added hope they can go to Teesside and win on Saturday.

He said: “We’re going to have to travel up there and be on top form. They’re a top team but we’ve got a lot of ability here. It’s going to take a top performance to beat them.

“But Middlesbrough are capable of being turned over. Bristol City have just beaten them so we’ll go there, give everything and hopefully get the three points.”

Gardner is on his second loan at the club, sealing a switch from Aston Villa earlier this month.

Forest are in 12th position, 10 points off the play-offs, and are unbeaten in their last 10 games. A win away to Middlesbrough would really solidify the progress they are making, and Gardner’s comments are reflective of their current confidence.
