Nottingham Forest can now sign Brown Ideye for free with the experienced striker rejecting the chance to sign a new contract with Aris Thessaloniki, according to AllNigeriaSoccer.
While Sabri Lamouchi deserves huge credit for turning a rather limited Forest side into genuine promotion contenders, the East Midland giants will surely be in the market for a new centre-forward regardless of which division they find themselves in next season.
While the evergreen Lewis Grabban is enjoying perhaps the best season of his career with 19 goals in the Championship, no other member of Lamouchi’s squad have hit double figures thus far.
And Nuno da Costa, the only other senior centre-forward at the City Ground, has managed just 65 minutes of football since joining in January.
So the chance to sign Brown Ideye for absolutely nothing is an opportunity that will at least be considered.
The Express and Star reported in May that the 31-year-old Nigerian was a Nottingham Forest target.

According to AllNigeriaSoccer, he is now a free agent with his contract at Greek outfit Aris expiring.
Ideye enjoyed an impressive 2019/20 campaign, netting 10 times in 31 games.
And while he didn’t exactly set the world alight during a previous spell in England, a man who once set West Brom back a cool £10 million has the power, work-rate and link-play to adapt well to Lamouchi’s rather reactive tactics.
