Nottingham Forest broke a Premier League record in bizarre circumstances earlier during their 2-0 defeat to Fulham.

What’s the story?

Well, despite suffering defeat at Craven Cottage, Steve Cooper’s side managed to get their name into the Premier League record books in very strange fashion.

Nottingham Forest were forced to substitute both Scott McKenna and Willy Boly in the seventh minute against the Cottagers as the pair suffered injuries at the time time.

In swapping them for Joe Worrall and Felipe, Nottingham Forest and Cooper broke a Premier League record by becoming the first side in history to substitute two starters so early in the game – according to Opta.

It isn’t exactly an unwanted record, nor is it something for Nottingham Forest fans to go around boasting about, but it is a record nonetheless.

Cooper will hope that neither injury is serious, as he looks to help Nottingham Forest bounce back from their defeat in west London.

Nottingham Forest should be fine despite 2-0 loss to Fulham

In our view, Nottingham Forest will avoid an immediate return to the Championship despite today’s 2-0 defeat to Fulham.

There is no shame in losing to the Cottagers right now, as they sit seventh in the Premier League under Marco Silva.

In our view, Evangelos Marinakis deserves huge credit for handing Cooper a new contract when the pressure was on the Welshman – it was a refreshing move in an industry where owners are far too quick to dish out P45s.

There is a real unity about Nottingham Forest, and they have recruited smartly in the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Gustavo Scarpa and Renan Lodi.

Hopefully, there is no late collapse for Cooper at the City Ground, as the Premier League is a better place with a giant of English football such as Nottingham Forest in it.
