The striker is back in training but will not be ready for Birmingham City tie on Friday.

Nottingham Forest boss Philippe Montanier has delivered an update on the fitness of several of his players ahead of the Friday night fixture with Birmingham City this week.

Forest go into the game needing a win after a very poor run of form and will need all the fitness boosts they can get.

The club have been without the likes of Britt Assombalonga, Damien Perquis and Michael Mancienne recently – with left-back Dani Pinillos a long-term absentee.

Montanier gave an update on these players today, as reported on the club’s official Twitter account, and it seems progress is being made all round.

However, it would appear that the club will again be without main goal threat Assombalonga whilst Pinillos is not yet ready for first-team action:

“Britt Assombalonga and Daniel Pinillos have been back in full training which is very good news. They are getting back to speed.

“Friday may come too soon for Britt and Daniel but they’re on the right path. Perquis and Mancienne have recovered well also.”

Forest striker Assombalonga, who missed 15 months with a knee injury recently, has not played since the 4-3 win against Wigan Athletic on the 20th August. He has scored three goals in three games this season and is clearly missed.

Pinillos has not played since suffering knee ligament damage against MK Dons in December last year and his return would also be welcomed.
