Matty Cash and Thomas Lam limped out of proceedings whilst Britt Assombalonga was absent.
Nottingham Forest’s Thomas Lam in action with Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia
Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 with Aston Villa earlier today in what was an entertaining game at Villa Park.
The Reds claimed a draw with a late goal from Henri Lansbury, after Apostolos Vellios had earlier given them the lead with a stunning first goal for the club.
But whilst this was a good point to earn it came at a cost.
Firstly, Hildeberto Pereira was sent off. He picked up a second yellow card after entering the crowd in celebrating Lansbury’s equaliser – which he had brilliantly set up.
They also lost two players to injury. Matty Cash, in for the injured Chris Cohen, picked up a knee problem early on and then his replacement Thomas Lam suffered a nasty looking injury to his thigh.

After the game, Forest boss Philippe Montanier talked to the press about the injuries – telling the Nottingham Post:
“We’ll see with Matty Cash. I hope it’s not serious but we will see tomorrow.
“For Thomas it was a big shock.
“We will see.”
He then went on to confirm that striker Britt Assombalonga would not feature in midweek against Rotherham United and that he did not know when he would be fit after the striker picked up a knock recently.
So Forest fans will be hoping for more like today from their summer Greek recruit, and for Nicklas Bendtner to find his match sharpness fast.
