Mark Warburton admits that Nottingham Forest will not rush Matty Fryatt back to full health, due to the longevity of his injury problems.
Fryatt has missed two years’ worth of action with a troublesome Achilles injury, which has proven very difficult to treat.
However, Fryatt has made a return to Forest training recently – giving the striker hope that there could yet be light at the end of the tunnel.
The 31-year-old could yet feature before the end of the season, but Warburton insists he will be taking no risks with the former Leicester City man’s recovery.
If Fryatt does return to the Forest fold before the end of the season, it will give Warburton more attacking options at a crucial stage of the season.
Warburton has taken over at Forest at a time when the pressure is on the Reds to get some wins under their belt.
Forest are currently in the thick of a relegation battle, and sit just one point above the drop zone.
Warburton’s side are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Preston North End at Deepdale.
