The former Brentford and Rangers boss has been thrown in the deep end at The City Ground.
Mark Warburton manager of Nottingham Forest
Following Nottingham Forest’s dismal Easter, which saw the club lose a relegation six pointer to Blackburn Rovers 1-0, before Cardiff City defeated them by the same scoreline, to say the club is in disarray would be an understatement.
Forest are now just a single point above the drop zone with just three games to play, and it seems like it’ll be a straight shootout between the Reds and Blackburn Rovers for the third relegation spot, with Wigan Athletic seemingly doomed.
Fan discontent towards new boss Mark Warburton has already begun on social media amongst a very small minority, however it is worth noting that the former Brentford and Rangers boss isn’t at fault for the club’s relegation woes.
There have been several points through the season which has led to this moment – the sale of Oliver Burke, Philippe Montanier’s failure to grasp the nature of the Championship, Gary Brazil getting 11 games in caretaker charge – claiming 13 from a possible 33 – two failed takeover bids and a lack of responsibility from the players all come before Warburton.

Regarding the players, key striker Britt Assombalonga missed two sitters over Easter – one against Blackburn and one against Cardiff – which would have rescued the club two points, and would keep them five clear of danger. Player errors like that aren’t Warburton’s fault.
While the brand of football the 54-year-old is trying to introduce may not be delivering results due to player errors, Warburton is the right man to take the club forward, and if Forest go down, it won’t have been because of his actions.
