Nottingham Forest drew 0-0 with Norwich City at Carrow Road last night.

Aitor Karanka, manager of Middlesbrough takes his seat before the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough at White Hart Lane on February 4, 2017 in London, England.

Aitor Karanka has suggested to BBC Nottingham Sport that Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder Lee Tomlin was not fit enough to feature against Norwich City last night.

Tomlin has been one of Forest’s star players since arriving on loan from Cardiff City in the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old has been a key source of creativity and goals, and Forest missed his qualities last night.

The Reds could only pick up a 0-0 draw at Carrow Road, despite having some good opportunities in the contest.

And Karanka is hoping that Tomlin is back in time to feature at the weekend.

“He’s played four games in two weeks and he didn’t feel too well,” Karanka said.

“He was tired. He’s a player who needs to be 100% I don’t want to take a risk with one injury or something like that. I’m hoping he’ll be fit for Sunday.”

Forest are next in action against Derby County at the weekend, and that could be an environment where Tomlin thrives.

Tomlin always plays on the edge, and a heightened atmosphere could bring the very best out of him.

Forest are now unbeaten in their last five matches, and sit in 15th place in the Championship table.
