Could Norwich City beat Nottingham Forest to Mark Warburton?

Nottingham Forest fans learned the hard way in January never to assume a deal is done.

A takeover was cancelled at the last minute, with owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi getting cold feet over selling.

So with reports doing the rounds via The Telegraph that Forest could be set to appoint Mark Warburton imminently, it is fair to be a bit cautious.

Over the past few days a few Championship vacancies have emerged, and Norwich City is one of them.

According to bookies SkyBet, Mark Warburton is just 9/2 to land the role, despite his links to the Forest job.

Norwich are in a higher position in the league table than Forest and in no danger of relegation.

Forest hold an advantage, having recently appointed Frank McParland as director of football, who worked with Warburton at Rangers.

Norwich’s vacancy could well have helped prompt Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi into action along with the side’s slide in form under caretaker Gary Brazil.

Indications are that Warburton is Forest bound, but fans will know not to count their chickens just yet with the Canaries lurking.
