Nottingham Forest may be sitting just four points above the relegation zone, but the drop is the furthest possibility on midfielder Matty Cash’s mind.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Cash says Forest are targeting a top half finish, and beyond that has his sights on the Premier League.

Cash signed a new contract at the club last week, and is determined to play top flight football with Forest, rather than moving on to achieve his dream.

He said: “We are not thinking about anything below us, we want to finish in the top half and all the boys believe in that.”

Cash added: “We, as a club, are finding stability at the moment and the dream is to get this club in the Premier League. That is what I want and I would love to play for this club in the Premier League with The City Ground sold out every week.”

A problem Forest have faced under Fawaz Al-Hasawi is that moments of stability have only been temporary.

Even now under Gary Brazil, the situation has a question mark hanging over it, with the manager only in charge until the end of the season.

Cash, 19, has been a revelation this campaign for the club and was linked with a Premier League move in January.

His show of commitment in signing a new deal is a welcome sign, and potentially a key step in Forest achieving their ambition of one day heading back to the top flight.
