Aston Villa reportedly wanted Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley when he was at Huddersfield Town.

One of the best players for Nottingham Forest so far this season has been Joe Lolley. Signed from Huddersfield Town in January 2018 for a transfer fee reported by Sky Bet to be worth £500,000, the 26-year-old winger has been superb for the Reds, as Aitor Karanka’s side continue their hunt for a Championship playoff spot.
Lolley has made 13 starts and four substitute appearances in the Championship for Forest so far this campaign, scoring four goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
The winger has been playing consistently well, and perhaps Aston Villa should have been more serious in signing the 26-year-old back in the summer of 2017.
According to a report in The Daily Mail in August 2017, Villa were considering a loan move for Lolley, with a move to Villa Park claimed to have been appealing to the winger due to him supporting the Villans as a boy.

Lolley’s form should interest Villa, as his performances underlined just what he could have done for them, not just this season but perhaps even during the 2017-18 campaign.
Maybe Villa could keep tabs on Lolley and make a bid for the winger in the January transfer window.
While Forest are unlikely to sell such an important player, the winger himself could be tempted to move to Villa, as he supported the Villans as a boy.
