Jordan Henderson told the Lions’ Den that he ‘won’t speak’ to his Liverpool teammate Andy Robertson before England’s clash with Scotland.
Liverpool’s attack-minded left-back is a certain starter for his country on Friday, but Henderson will, more than likely, find himself on the bench for the Euro 2020 showdown.
But that won’t stop the duo from possibly coming toe-to-toe together out on the pitch, at some point, as they battle it out in a mouthwatering tie.
And despite the duo being good friends, Henderson made it clear that ‘nothing will’ be said between the two before the match.
“Before the game, you don’t really speak much,” said Henderson. “Nothing will get said. I’ll probably not speak to Robbo until after the game now.
“Then when you are on the pitch, you don’t really think about it. You just play and do what you normally do.
“Afterwards, you will speak and you will have that respect regardless of the result, so it doesn’t really change much, really.”
There will be a number of players set to face-off against their club teammates on Friday.
Manchester United duo Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire could come up against Scott McTomiany.
Whilst John McGinn may have to deal with the threat of Jack Grealish if he’s handed a start, whilst Tyrone Mings might also be selected in defence again.
Then there is the chance that Billy Gilmour could start in midfield against his Chelsea teammate, Mason Mount.
Either way, flashbacks of Euro 1996 will hit everyone’s screens once more in a few days time at Wembley.
