Jurgen Klopp has acknowledged that Timo Werner is a ‘really good footballer’ but refused to discuss Liverpool’s reported interest in him.
For so long it looked like the German manager was going to be signing the 24-year-old star.
But Werner has completed a £47.5 million move to Chelsea after Liverpool were reportedly reluctant to trigger his release clause.
Only in April, Sky Sports claimed that the former Leipzig hitman was ‘ready’ to join Klopp’s side at Anfield.
But now he’s at their Premier League rivals and Klopp has issued a blunt response to missing out.
This one is going to really, really hurt if Werner takes the Premier League by storm.
That’s because it isn’t just the past couple of months that Liverpool have been interest; this has been going on for years and, as selfish as it sounds, fans of the Merseyside club might be secretly – openly – hoping that he flops in England.
