Shay Given has claimed ‘nothing really fazes’ Liverpool teenager Kaide Gordon following his FA Cup display against Shrewsbury Town, as he told Premier Sports.

Liverpool survived a scare against the League One side by levelling the scores after Daniel Udoh opened the scoring at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp played a number of teenagers in the third round of the FA Cup, including Gordon and Conor Bradley who combined for Liverpool’s opening goal.

At only 17, Gordon is showing real promise, after he was snapped up by the Merseyside club from Derby County.

Ex-Premier League keeper Given was at Derby when Gordon was coming through and he had nothing but high praise for the young forward today.

“He’s one of the huge positives,” said Given. “Nothing really fazes him. The positives have come from him.

“We are going to look at his goal. He combined well a couple of times with the young right-back in Bradley. The 18-year-old passing to the 17-year-old inside the box.

“The composure on the finish. There are three or four Shrewsbury players around him. But it’s just that swift turn. He sits the guy down and it’s a nice little finish.

“You see the excitement on his face, his first senior goal.”

Liverpool’s semi-final first leg EFL Cup showdown against Arsenal was postponed last time out because of COVID issues.

It will be interesting to see if, for their upcoming match against the Gunners, Klopp will keep someone like Gordon in the XI.

The German has previously used a number of his young guns for domestic matches and that may continue next week.

Gordon and Bradley were both outstanding against Shrewsbury and they probably deserve that shot against an in-form Arsenal side, despite it being a big step up in quality.
