Graeme Souness hailed the qualties of reported Arsenal target John Stones and how there’s ‘nothing he cannot do’, as he told Sky Sports.
The Manchester City defender helped his side record a valuable win against Frank Lampard’s men over the weekend.
In December, EuroSport claimed that Arsenal were keen to speak with Stones in January, with the England international suffering from a lack of form, at the time.
But given his recent form and regular game time, it would be a real surprise if anything happens between the two parties, as Souness had one criticism of the ball-playing defender.
“There’s nothing he cannot do,” said Souness. “The only thing that was missing in his game was decision-making.
“He’s got presence. He’s a big lad. Good in the air. Great on the ball for a centre-half, athleticism and quick enough.
“It’s just decision-making. We saw that at Everton and that followed it onto Manchester City.”

A couple of weeks ago, Arsenal needed changes all over the pitch given their seriously bad run of form, but three wins on the bounce has changed the mood around the place.
Now, they have Rob Holding performing, alongside Pablo Mari, with the youngsters Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith-Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli all thriving.
There’s no doubt that more Arsenal defenders will leave this month than those that will sign, if any, but whilst the links with Stones are understandable given that Arteta worked with him at Manchester City, such a deal now or in the summer would be a surprise.
