Jose Mourinho told Sky Sports that ‘nothing could be better’ for his Tottenham players than the nine points they have picked up heading into their showdown with Arsenal on Sunday.
It’s an important week for those in North London, with both Spurs and Arsenal taking part in nerve-racking first-leg Europa League knockout matches on Thursday before locking horns with one another days later.
Spurs go into the NLD having beaten Burnley over a week ago, Fulham by a single goal last Thursday and then putting four past Crystal Palace over the weekend.
Mourinho shared that his team is ‘happier’ and ‘nothing could be better’ than the wins they have picked up last week heading into this week’s ‘crucial’ set of matches.
“The team is happier, the team is playing better,” said Mourinho. “It doesn’t feel that negative pressure, so I believe it was a good week for us. Three matches. Nine points.
“For (this week) we play a crucial match in the Europa League and we play a derby against Arsenal.
“Nothing could be better for us than these nine points.”
This week could be game-changing for both Mourinho and Mikel Arteta because they cannot afford to slip-up now.
If either team gets knocked out of the Europa League, and in between, loses the derby game then calls for their head will only increase.
But equally, progress through to the next round of the Europa League and put three points on the board at the Emirates then it can change your season heading into these important final few months.
