Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is ‘not worried’ about the uncertainty surrounding Milan Skriniar’s future at San Siro. The centre-back is a transfer target for Arsenal and Liverpool.

Inzaghi has issued a staunch retort to suggestions that Skriniar will not be focused on their return to Serie A. The Nerazzurri resume their Italian top-flight season at home to leaders Napoli on Wednesday night. Inter Milan went into the winter break in fifth, 11 points behind.

Skriniar featured in all 15 of Inter Milan’s Serie A fixtures and started in 14 before the World Cup in Qatar. He also captained the San Siro side in a number of their domestic games and in the Champions League. The Slovakia skipper led Inter Milan to a 1-0 win over Barcelona.

But Inzaghi has faced questions over Skriniar’s future with Inter Milan as the 27-year-old is out of contract in June. Calciomercato has also now reported that as Skriniar has not given the Nerazzurri a response to their offer of fresh terms, the club are looking to sign his heir.

Former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling, who is out of contract at Roma in June, as well, is one option. Inter Milan could also sign him along with retaining Skriniar, who is now a reported transfer target for English rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, if Smalling departs.

Reports by 90min suggest Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have expressed an interest in Skriniar’s transfer from Inter Milan. CalcioMercatoWeb also notes Tottenham Hotspur are ready to pay the Nerazzurri €30m (£26m) this January.

Arsenal are strong contenders to seal Skriniar’s transfer from Inter Milan

Arsenal, however, are emerging as strong contenders to seal Skriniar’s transfer from Inter Milan. CalcioMercatoWeb also reports that the Gunners have a real chance of edging any move Paris Saint-Germain make. It also hints the tussle could come down to those teams.

But Inzaghi is not concerned about the noise circling over Skriniar’s head distracting him in Inter Milan’s game with Napoli. The uncertainty surrounding the Nerazzurri’s €18m (£16m) arrival also does not trouble the San Siro manager. Skriniar joined from Sampdoria in 2017.

“Absolutely not,” Inzaghi said, via quotes by Sport Mediaset. “I’m not worried. Skriniar is in love with Inter and I have no doubts about him. At the same time, I have a strong company that is working best for all open situations.”
