Paul Heckingbottom has admitted that it’s ‘not worked out’ for Liverpool academy product, Rhian Brewster, at Sheffield United, as he told his press conference.
The 21-year-old is yet to open his account for the Blades since that big-money move last summer.
To add to Brewster’s forgettable performances, it doesn’t help when his team are sitting rock-bottom of the Premier League table and heading back to the Championship with only three wins to their name this season.
Heckingbottom is currently standing in for the recently sacked Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, and after giving Brewster just over 20 minutes during his side’s 3-0 defeat against Arsenal on Sunday, he shared his thoughts on the player.
“I think so (this experience will help him in the long run),” said Heckingbottom. “As you said, Rhian did great at Swansea.
“He earned his move to (Sheffield United) and he will be the first to say that it’s not worked out as well as he would have hoped.
“But he understands that. He understands the leagues. He has been at big clubs. He understands how tough it is, what top players do, how hard they work and the sacrifices they have to make to get into the team and be a top player.
“If he approaches things right and we keep pushing him on these details and making sure that he understands that it’s only hard work that’s going to get him to the top then he will come back stronger for it.”

Going back down to the Championship will do Brewster the world of good because he has had previous success there with Swansea.
But this will become more of a mental battle for the England U21 international because he has proven that the talent is there.
It won’t be easy for a Sheffield United team, who have been used to losing this season, to try and turn their fortunes around and become a team that wins on a regular basis next season.
