Thierry Henry disagreed with Jamie Carragher that Arsenal will finish in Europe this season, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (19/10/21 at 10:35 pm).

The Arsenal legend was asked whether Arsenal will make Europe, and whilst Carragher thinks it will happen, Henry stated ‘not with what I saw recently’.

Well, most recently, Arsenal recorded a 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace, despite taking the lead during the game.

What is perhaps the worry is that Palace looked the better side, yet they didn’t have their best player in Wilfried Zaha and they outplayed their London rivals once they went 1-0 down.

So, perhaps it’s understandable that the feeling is mixed in regards to what Arsenal will do next season, because one minute they are looking pretty good and then it’s a complete meltdown.

Either way, this is what Henry, Carragher, and first, Micah Richards had to say about Arsenal’s chances of Europe this season.

“What kind of Europe,” asked Richards. “Are we talking Champions League, Europa League or Europa Conference? Yes. Arsenal will qualify for the Europa League.”

Carragher shared his thoughts: “I say yes.”

Henry responded: “Right now with what I saw, not with what I saw recently.”

It’s pretty damning for someone like Mikel Arteta that a club legend feels that way because this isn’t some sort of an overreaction.

It needs to be remembered that Arteta is in his third season at the Emirates and some are still questioning ‘what is his style of play?’

Fans watch another Arsenal legend in Patrick Vieira rock up at the Emirates on Monday night, where his team played with a purpose, forward-thinking style and high energy that was there for all to see.

It needs to be remembered that Vieira is only a few months into his role, several senior players left in the summer and he had to bring in a number of young players, yet their identity is clear.

But not for Arsenal and Arteta, who has been in the hot seat for somewhile now.
