Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has suggested to the Daily Express that James Milner won’t be in his side’s squad on Wednesday, after picking up an injury.

Milner was taken off late on during Liverpool’s 0-0 draw with Everton at Goodison Park last night.

The experienced England international hurt his hamstring, and although Klopp doesn’t think the problem is a serious one, it seems that he won’t be risked in midweek.

“Millie felt his hamstring a bit. Maybe not Wednesday but after that I’d hope,” Klopp said, ahead of Liverpool’s game against Crystal Palace.

“Hopefully not serious, he is smart enough to show up the moment he feels it.”

There were no guarantees that Milner would have started for Liverpool on Wednesday, even if he had been fit.

Andy Robertson is set to return at Anfield, after missing out on yesterday’s game with injury.

Milner would surely have taken his place on Liverpool’s bench though, if he did not have any fitness problems to worry about.

Liverpool were not at their best against Everton yesterday, but they have moved 26 points clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of Manchester City’s game this evening.
