Uli Koehler has claimed that he thinks West Ham United transfer target, Filip Kostic ‘will not’ join the Premier League club this summer, as he told Sky Sports.

The Sky Germany reporter added that Eintracht Frankfurt are ‘working hard’ to keep the winger on board and the chances of him donning West Ham colours are ‘not very high’.

The Hammers will be playing Europa Conference League football next season, but it’s the Champions League for the 2021 Europa League champions.

That in itself could easily persuade Kostic to stay in his current surroundings, but West Ham have made a ‘big offer’ for the £17 million rated star.

Nonetheless, whilst those in Claret & Blue get giddy over the possible arrival of Gianluca Scamacca, this was the bad news Koehler delivered of Kostic to West Ham fans.

“This Kostic case is for a long term now,” said Koehler. “For months, everybody says ‘Kostic will leave Eintracht’.

“But I think, at the moment, Kostic will not go to West Ham because Eintracht plays next year in the Champions League, which West Ham isn’t doing.

“Okay, money is one thing, but on the other hand, he wants to win trophies. For a long time, he had a relation to Inter Milan, they wanted to sign him and it didn’t work out pretty well.

“So, I think the chances are not very high. But you know the business, in the end, money counts and if West Ham have enough money, then there is a chance for Kostic.

“But Eintracht are working hard to keep him. He is a key player.”

BIG FEW WEEKS COMING UP FOR WEST HAM

David Moyes has needed depth in his squad for a long while, even before the departures of a few senior faces this summer.

It seems as though Scamacca is heading to East London and it would be some coup if Kostic could also be signed up by the club.

Given that he is going to play Champions League football with his current side, then it’s a challenge, but money and the lure of Premier League football might prove to be too much.

A powerful winger, who like Jarrod Bowen, is deadly on the flanks and has a very good eye for goal, the all-action forward could claim that he would get into West Ham’s XI right now.

Either way, if things go right for the Irons during these coming weeks, then it could be a big season ahead for them.
