Tim Sherwood has claimed that it’s ‘not turned out well’ for Dele Alli at Everton, only months after leaving for Tottenham, as he told Premier League Productions.
The former Premier League boss added that Alli should have probably started Everton’s 5-0 defeat to Spurs on Monday night.
The 25-year-old was introduced into the action late on and he got a pretty warm reception from the home crowd, both during and after the game.
But, since Alli has been on Merseyside, he is yet to start a Premier League game for the struggling club.
Whilst Alli still has time to turn things around, Sherwood spoke about the player’s situation and why he would have started him against his former club.
“It’s not turned out well for him, has it?” said Sherwood. “I thought when Frank brought him in there. I think Dele thought he was going to play some minutes.
“Listen, I would have been tempted to throw him in against Spurs because he would have wanted to prove a point that he still has got ability.
“But his development has stopped and it’s really unfortunate him.”

It doesn’t help Alli’s matter that he has dived into a pool where things are going wrong before he can even try to swim again.
Everton were in an utter mess before he joined, and whilst he has played little since arriving, they have become worse during these past few weeks.
Many are starting to fear that relegation could be a possibility for the Toffees, but their next two home games – Wolves and Newcastle – are absolutely crucial in their fight to survive.
Alli will be hoping that he can earn his starts during these matches, because if he isn’t, then things really are going from bad to worse for him.
